Shake 'N Bake Copy Cat Recipe

Better than the real thing, and much cheaper!


Ingredients:

1/2 cup plus 1 Tablespoon corn flake crumbs
2 teaspoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder


Preparation:

Combine all ingredients in a large (gallon size) plastic baggie and mix well. Follow techniques as described on the original package (instructions below also). Makes a generous quantity of seasoning. Bake on cookie sheet (15" x 10" x 1").

Use For:

Chicken:
Use up to 10 pieces bone-in or boneless chicken (with or without skin). Preheat oven to 400, moisten chicken with water and shake a few pieces at a time in coating mixture. Bake 45 minutes for bone-in or 20 minutes for boneless.

Chicken Nuggets:
Preheat oven to 400. Use 1 to 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into approximately 1 1/2" cubes. Moisten in water and shake a few at a time in coating. Bake for 15 minutes. Great with dipping sauces like honey mustard, spicy ginger, bbq or taco sauce.

Pork:
Moisten pork chops in water and shake a couple at a time in coating. Preheat oven to 425 and bake for 15 minutes for chops up to 1/2" thick. If thicker add 5-10 minutes.

Fish:
Moisten fish fillets in water and shake a couple at a time in coating. Preheat oven to 450 and bake for 13 minutes. We used catfish and they turned out great. Might try different seasonings? like thyme instead of onion and garlic powder.
